"I am an IoT Application Developer at Enerlly. My key job responsibilities involve controlling and transmitting industrial data to the cloud using an IoT controller, therefore keeping the Enerlly App reliable and stable. I also work on developing and integrating new features into the application. That summarizes my work at Enerlly." - Ganesh Gole.
When did you join this organization? Would you like to share your motivation or intent behind joining Enerlly?
I had joined Enerlly as an Intern. Post which I was with an organization where I was developing system software for Electromechanical machines. I was responsible for manipulating data and creating software that creates an interactive and friendly environment for users. This did not excite me for very long. And therefore when I found out that there was an opening for an IoT Application Developer, I jumped to that grab the opportunity.
My motivation behind joining Enerlly is its vision. It feels like I am part of making a positive effect on society as well as the environment. Everyone at Enerlly, including me is part of this social impact by putting our technical skills to best use.
Explain what your every day looks like at work?
At Enerlly, not all workdays are similar, and that is the most rewarding part. Every day comes with new hurdles new challenges. On some days, my team and I learn to experiment with different parameters and implement new software ideas. Sometimes we succeed and sometimes we fail. But we always get encouraged by our leaders to try again.
Can you explain a challenge you just mentioned?
For instance, when we add a new customer into the application, we come across network issues, issues while updating different machines with different parameters, and software development for controllers, which are just a few of those. Besides these, we keep integrating new technologies in the software without disturbing the live system. That at times is a real challenge.
Can you talk about your project a little?
I work with Python, Django, Raspberry Pi, Shell Script, Serial Communication, Embedded Systems, and Computer Networks. Each platform I work on has different work functions. For instance, with Raspberry Pi, we send data of the smart energy meters to the server. With Django framework, I develop the backend software as so on. These platforms enable the continuous upgrades and integration of new technologies and smooth functioning of the existing platform.
Is it true that you are pursuing your higher education besides working as an IoT Application Developer? How is it like? Could you share your experience?
Balancing work and higher education simultaneously can be hectic, challenging, and rewarding all at once. The best part is my current studies are related to my work, so I can understand better. For instance, I am currently learning about Embedded Systems and IoT Networks. This knowledge helps me to develop the IoT Controller of Enerlly. It’s more like theory and practice together. I am thankful to the organization that allowed me to take up this opportunity. At Enerlly I get the required support along with study leaves when required. The flexible work environment is helping me to study, work and excel.
Can you talk about any significant benchmarks you have achieved recently?
At Enerlly, we are always encouraged to try and experiment with technologies. I have recently worked on an Aggregation Table framework that will reduce the codebase by up to 30-40%. This will make the system faster and efficient. I felt a sense of achievement when I sent the data from the controller to the server using GSM for the very first time.
What message would you like to give to young aspiring candidates who wish to join Enerlly?
Enerlly is an emerging start-up with a vision of sustainability through technology and innovation. You will get multiple opportunities to learn different and emerging technologies in the present market. As IoT is a boundless field, you will face and overcome new challenges every day that will improve the existing software and enhance your technical skills. You will be given a lot of responsibility and your work will be recognized. At Enerlly, you will get to work in a very collaborative and friendly environment.
